Which one is a better insulator?
Most vented attics have either fiberglass, which we previously discussed, or cellulose insulation. Cellulose is made from plants and recycled paper materials that are coated with fire retardant and sometimes pesticide chemicals. It is grey in color and the particles are smaller than fiberglass, this is why people often complain about the dust it produces.
Cellulose air seals a little better than it’s pink counterpart however, spray foam is the only one that is liquid applied and will completely air seal the space. Also, spray foam will not degrade and settle over time losing it’s insulating performance and R-value like cellulose.
